Reading Challenge for 2016

So I have been kind of bad (still) about updating this blog with my reading reviews. I have continued tracking on Goodreads all my reading.

This is my profile on Goodreads if you want to add me as a friend.

One of my determinations for the new year is to get caught up on some of the things that I have been slacking on.

I am in the middle of reading a couple of books right now so I guess 2017 is going to start off pretty good. I am going to try for 40 books again this year...

Reading Challenge for 2015

I am very behind in my updates to this blog. Have been tracking my reading on Goodreads for the last few years after my old tracking website went away.

My profile on Goodreads can be found here. I will try to get on here and update my reading from the last couple of years so we can all be caught up again with my reviews...

I started the 2016 Reading Challenge today, but wanted to mark the end of the last year's challenge. As you can see, I didn't quite get there but that is okay...there were a lot of changes this year and I am glad, as always, that I am able to read what I want, when I want for the most part...lots of other people out there don't have that luxury.

I am shooting for 40 books next year...we'll see how it goes. I think that being more accustomed to my schedule will help me in the next year for sure!

Books From June 2014

★ ★ ★ ★ Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix -J.K. Rowling
The second in this series that I have not remembered seeing the movie of, even though I have seen the movie. So this book was a nice surprise since I really didn't know how it was going to happen. The story is definitely still intriguing.

★ ★ ★ ★ Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince -J.K. Rowling
Enjoyed this one....don't remember the movie for it either so it was a "new" story to me. Thought for sure that the half blood prince was going to be the Dark Lord the whole time...enjoyed the twist.

★ ★ ★ How to Bake a Perfect Life -Barbara O'Neal
I enjoyed this quick read. Nothing too deep, but a decent plot and some fun reading.

Books From May 2014

★ ★ ★ ★ Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire -J.K. Rowling
I really enjoyed this book. I do not remember seeing this movie at all so this book was like a whole new adventure for me. Great read!!

★ ★ ★ ★ I, Alex Cross -James Patterson
This one was a great plot...kept me on my toes...nice twist at the end. Still loving this series.

★ ★ ★ ★ Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban -J.K. Rowling
Really liked this one...couldn't put it down in parts. It was a lot different from the movie and that added some cool interest to the story for me as well.

Books From April 2014

★ ★ ★ ★ Cross Country -James Patterson
Another great Alex Cross book...can't wait to start another one!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone -J.K. Rowling
Finally got to reading this series...I actually like the fact that I have seen the movies...it makes the writing all that more vivid for me. Looking forward to the next one!

★ ★ ★ ★ Double Cross -James Patterson
Really enjoyed this book...interesting bad guy and was wondering when KC was going to come back into the picture...

★ ★ ★ ★ Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets -J.K. Rowling
This would be the one I have seen the movie of the most and I really enjoyed the book. It has some plot items that were not covered in the movie and it made the story a bit more interesting.

Books From March 2014

★ ★ ★ UR -Stephen King
Listened to this one in the car...interesting concept...not long enough for me to get really engrossed...will probably listen to it again though. Mention of the 'lowmen' has me intrigued...

★ ★ ★ ★ W Is For Wasted -Sue Grafton
Waited forever for this one from the library. Great read...wish they had tied up a couple of loose ends at the end but you can't have everything.

★ ★ ★ London Bridges -James Patterson
Glad to see the Wolf and the Weasel are dead in one book...hated both of those characters with a passion.

★ ★ ★ ★ Mary, Mary -James Patterson
This one had a great plot...left behind some of the bad guys from earlier ones, which was a nice change. Really enjoyed the story here...

★ ★ ★ How To Eat A Cupcake -Meg Donohue
Fun quick read...nice change up from the Patterson and Kellerman books I have been busy with lately.

Books From February 2014

★ ★ ★ Journey -Aaron Becker

★ ★ ★ ★ Roses Are Red -James Patterson
I enjoyed this one even though it was out of order of some of the others I have been reading. I am looking forward to catching up and feeling like I am not bouncing all over the timeline.

★ ★ ★ Mr Wuffles -David Wiesner

★ ★ ★ Labor Day -Joyce Maynard
I wanted to read this before seeing the movie, and I am glad I did. It is a decent read, the characters are believable, however the plot was a bit wonky and it felt a tiny bit weird at the end how it was all wrapped up. I am still curious to see the movie when it comes out on DVD.

★ ★ ★ Wait Till Next Year: A Memoir -Doris Kearns Goodwin
This was an interesting read.

★ ★ ★ This Is The Rope: A Story From The Great Migration -Jacqueline Woodson

★ ★ ★ The Tortoise And The Hare -Jerry Pinkney

★ ★ ★ ★ Mr Tiger Goes Wild -Peter Brown

★ ★ ★ 13 Words -Lemony Snicket

★ ★ ★ Still Missing -Chevy Stevens
This was a good ebook I picked up off the discount shelf on Barnes and Noble's site. Storyline was pretty intense and the way of presenting the story was very interesting. I felt that it got a bit lost near the end but overall, I enjoyed the book.

★ ★ ★ Brush Of The Gods -Lenore Look

★ ★ ★ ★ The Dark -Lemony Snicket

★ ★ ★ Nelson Mandela -Kadir Nelson
